Directing
As a director, Jon strives to create visually striking work, harnessing the power of the ensemble to find moments of transformation and magic on stage. Directing credits with Sinking Ship include The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy, (NYTimes Critc’s Pick 2020) and New York Theatre Workshop, 2025. Cassandra, an Agony, Getty Villa, CA. Powerhouse at the New Ohio Theatre (NYTimes Critics Pick), Solaris in (work-in-progress) at Mabou Mines Resident Artist program, Flatland, an EST/Sloan Foundation commission, and There Will Come Soft Rains at FringeNYC (Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction). In addition to his work with Sinking Ship, he has directed work with music ensembles Alarm Will Sound (Finding Balance) and Merz Trio (Undiluted Days). With Theater in Quarantine, he directed Footnote for the End of Time. With The Krumple he has co-directed / performed Go to Sleep, Goddamnit! and Do Not Feed the Trolls throughout Norway and in NYC. Additional directing credits include Esoteric Poem, YIVO, The Selkie, Urban Stages Community Outreach program, in 2009, Tales from the Wind and the Sun, Metropolitan Playhouse.
